Spark advance, or ignition timing as it’s more commonly known, is the term used to describe the point in the engine cycle at which the spark is generated at the spark plug inside the engine’s cylinder. This point is referenced against the piston’s position in the cylinder at the time of ignition.

⚙️ Power vs Torque — Why the Difference Matters

It’s actually surprising how many people don’t know the difference between power and torque… especially when they really should.

To understand power, we first need to understand work.

🔧 Work is simply the transfer of energy from one thing to another.
The unit of work is the Joule (J).

1 Joule = 1 Newton of force applied over 1 meter of movement.

This is where confusion often happens, because torque also involves force and distance.

But there’s a key difference:

👉 Torque does not necessarily mean work is being done.
